Aurora Area Schools Fire Career Day 2024

Ever wondered what a firefighter does?

This is your chance to see what we do and a look into an exciting career.

We will be covering 7 skills we perform which include:
1. SCBA Orientation
2. Nozzle Mechanics
3. Forcible Entry
4. EMS / CPR
5. Extrication
6. Vent-Enter-Search
7. Technical Rescue

Class start time is 0900 on May 11th, 2024.

We will be opening this up to 60 students.

There is no cost and lunch is on site.

We will provide all of the gear and equipment needed.

Training will be instructed by members of local fire departments.

Skills

SCBA Orientation

We will cover the fundamental use of an SCBA, maintenance on them, donning/doffing, and confidence.

Nozzle Mechanics

We will work with the students to understand nozzle mechanics and allow them to flow handlines of different sizes.

Forcible Entry

We will allow students to work on forcible entry with hand tools as well as cover door construction.

EMS / CPR

Students will get the opportunity to see the inside of an ambulance, help control the bleed, perform CPR, and other EMS tasks.

Extrication

Students will have vehicles on the grounds that they can cut and spread using hydraulic tools.

Vent-Enter-Search

Students will work with instructors to perform a Vent-Enter-Search using our props, tools, and instruction.

Technical Rescue

Students will use rope systems to rappel off of a tower with instructors. They'll be guided to the ground safely.
